P.A.L.S. for Healing is a nonprofit mental health organization dedicated to providing education, art therapy, EMDR and other trauma-informed therapies to help people who have suffered trauma and/or loss and positively impact overall health. Individuals can experience trauma from direct AND indirect exposure to an event(s) that leaves them with feelings of helplessness, terror and loss of safety. Some of these experiences can include divorce, having an incarcerated parent, being in the foster care system, rape, serving in the military, having a family member in the military, responding to crisis situations, domestic violence, bullying, childhood abuse and neglect, the death of a loved one and natural disasters. P.A.L.S. for Healing has three locations within Cuyahoga County and provides offsite group and individual services within Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Summit counties. You’re invited to come work with a group of dedicated and motivated board members and volunteers in a growing organization. You will learn about providing support to individuals and families who are affected by trauma and/or loss. The selected interns/volunteers will have the opportunity to work from home independently with guidance from the organization's board and volunteer coordinators.

If selected, the candidate may choose to take this position as a volunteer. This is a NON-PAID position

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and ensure that organization documents are in compliance with Ohio laws
• Verify facts, using standard legal sources
• Read content and correct for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Approve final versions submitted by staff

Qualifications:

• Currently, holds or acquiring a degree in law
• Familiar with State and Federal laws and regulations
• Experience in mental health laws and regulations i.e. HIPPA
• Experience in Ohio employment laws both for and not for profit

Skills

• Proficient in basic computer applications
• Capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
• Ability to work productively from home
