About

Are you interested in honing your communication and leadership skills? Are you passionate about helping young girls learn about technology? Consider volunteering for ChickTech Corvallis as one of our Workshop Leaders! We welcome volunteers of any gender.

ChickTech is a national non-profit dedicated to supporting and advancing women/girls in technology. Our program consists of a Kickoff event with 5-7 tech workshops and followup workshops throughout the school year, and we are always looking for volunteers to help lead these workshops. As a Workshop Leader, your activities would include:

  • Developing a workshop in a field that you know and enjoy, It could involve software (coding, design, video/audio editing), hardware (robotics, soft circuits), or other "maker" projects that highlight industries where technology is vital (green energy, medicine, film, etc.).
  • Documenting the workshop so that it can be re-implemented in the future
  • Working with the Event/Logistics Manager to ensure that the workshop has all the resources it needs to succeed, including a venue, materials, and personnel

Time commitment is 2-4 hrs a week leading up to the workshop, and then leading the workshop (4-6 hrs).

In addition to the opportunity to positively and directly impact the lives of women and girls in our community, the benefits of volunteering with ChickTech include a leadership experience to put on your resume and extensive networking opportunities with local tech companies and other ChickTech volunteers. If you are interested in this opportunity, please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you. If you are interested or have questions, please email us at corvallis@chicktech.org.
