Please support Friendship Place's annual walk to end homelessness, a 1.5 mile walk around the National Mall focused on ending homelessness in the Washington D.C. region. All proceeds benefit Friendship Place, a nonprofit organization that offers the most effective model for addressing homelessness, with innovative programs that empower participants to rebuild their lives, find homes, get jobs, and reconnect with friends, family, and the community permanently! We need volunteers to help at the event with set-up, event coordination (registration, handing out water bottles, directing walkers), and clean-up. We would love to have your support for this fun, community event!
This is a one-time volunteer opportunity. If you are interested in ongoing volunteer opportunities, or if you'd like to be added to our volunteer e-mail list, please complete our online volunteer form at the following link: https://friendshipplace.org/volunteer-form/
If you would like to sign up to attend the walk as an individual or with a team, please visit: http://support.friendshipwalks.org/site/TR/Events/General?pg=entry&fr_id=1090

About Friendship Place
Location:
4713 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016, US
Mission Statement
At our core, our mission is to help people facing or at risk of homelessness to secure stable housing and embark on a new chapter in their lives. Our ultimate vision is for DC and beyond to be a place where everybody can find a place they can call "home."
Description
Friendship Place is staffed by over 100 people and has a wide reach in the DC Metro area. The highly successful programs have been given numerous awards, and help make a lasting difference in the lives of over 4,500 people yearly through street outreach, free medical and psychiatric clinic, including drop-in care, case management, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing for veterans and their families as well as job placement and specialized programs. Our program results have been incredibly successful, and various government and nonprofit organizations all over the country are studying our models to replicate our achievements.
Nonetheless, Friendship Place-supported by 26 congregations and more than 300 volunteers a year-retains the feel of a small, caring, neighborhood organization. The most commonly repeated refrain we hear from the people who come to us for help is this: "At other agencies, I felt like a number. At Friendship Place, I’m treated like a human being."
