Entrepreneurial Christ Followers to Run Youth Mentoring Program

ORGANIZATION: Blossom

Blossom Care Network (BCN) has a fantastic opportunity for a group of entrepreneurial young Christians who want to make a real difference in their community while leaning what it takes to operate a nonprofit organization.

BCN provides trauma informed mentoring for abused, exploited and at-risk youth. There are thirteen young people on our waiting list, so we know that there are kids who need our help! The problem is that BCN has not been able to develop a steady supply of new mentors, and we have a tough time retaining the ones we do find. To ramp up operations will also require a simultaneous increase in fundraising.

Despite the waiting list, BCN is not currently mentoring any kids! This is awful, but at the same time, it presents an opportunity. We can take what works (the 501(c)3 structure, training, established reputation, connections and demand), fix what’s broken (mentor recruitment and retention), while growing fundraising to put the program on a positive trajectory.

I (President, Board of Directors) have had success working with current and recent students on other business projects, giving them the rare opportunity to gain experience launching, growing and possibly even owning a business right out of (or in) school. I’m looking right now for a group of young people who want to take Blossom Care Network and run with it! The framework is already in place and I’ll provide support, but we need the right people on board.

Right now BCN needs at least one person to manage relationships with new mentors/mentees, and a group of people to work on marketing for both mentor recruitment and fundraising. We’ll need leaders too, but have found that within a well-functioning group, leadership usually sorts itself out organically. Being a seed stage organization, job descriptions are flexible so it is imprudent to get very descriptive here, but expect the duties to be varied, often requiring your personal judgement as to the right course. Although guidance will always be available (and in some cases necessary), it is expected that the team will make most decisions on their own, with minimal supervision.

If you are a person of extreme integrity and see a potential role for yourself within Blossom Care Network, I’d love to talk with you. Please reply to this add or call/text me at 720-381-1443 for more information.
