Prodeo Academy's scholars are testing in the 94th percentile for growth in math and the 90th percentile for growth in reading. This rapid growth is what makes it possible for Prodeo's students to overcome the odds and close the achievement gap, and it is not possible without people like you helping to propel them forward by tutoring or creating a tutoring team! The Prodeo impact is not possible without volunteers. Tutoring provides targeted repetition of skills, creates a small group environment, and allows teachers more one on one time with other students in their class. Tutors develop meaningful relationships with scholars, growing their network and social skills. Prodeo's new location is centrally located close to downtown Minneapolis at 620 Olson Memorial Highway (just behind Target Field) and the tutoring program takes place Monday - Thursday, 8:50 am - 10:40 am. Individual Tutors commit to one 2-hour time slot on the same day each week. Tutor Teams share one 2-hour time slot on the same day each week (i.e. 4 people each take one day per month). Are you and your friends or colleagues interested in putting together a tutoring team? Prodeo's Volunteer Coordinator, Anna Wagner, would be happy to discuss the opportunity further, or schedule a training / info session at a time that is convenient for your whole team either at Prodeo or at your office. Description
Prodeo Academy is a PK-8, free, public charter school in Minneapolis. From the first day of kindergarten, we are preparing our children for college. Prodeo Academy is a rigorous, meaningful education solution in North Minneapolis.
Our first year with our Kindergarten students was a success with 93% of our students on grade level and 75% of those advanced. Not only did our students make significant growth, but our standardized test scores also beat the national standard for kindergarteners in both reading and math. We will add another class next year and have Kindergarten and First Grade students. Our plan is to add a grade each year until we are K-8th grade.
At Prodeo Academy, every student is engaged in learning. We provide individualized instruction for every child. Excellence is our standard, for both students and teachers. At Prodeo Academy we close the achievement gap by using the best practices in education from the top academic schools in the country. Results matter: we strive to produce results that are among the highest performing schools in the country. Together with our families, we provide a structure and culture of success.
