The Aurora Coverage Assistance Network, part of the non-profit Aurora Mental Health Center, provides free, personalized assistance on health care coverage as well as health insurance literacy to those in the Aurora community. With health insurance open enrollment starting November 1, we are looking at bringing on 4-5 volunteers until the end of January at our Smoky Hill location to help us with our mission: getting more people covered with health insurance.
Any time that you can lend yourself as a volunteer is great-- one day a week is ideal (or more), however, we can be flexible depending on your schedule.
As a volunteer your general duties would include:
-Welcoming clients as they come in for their appointments
-Answering phones
-Making reminder phone calls to clients regarding their upcoming appointments
-Assisting with any other needs that arise
What you'll get out of it:
-Servicing a great community
-Connections with professionals in the health field
-Experience in a health-related setting
Prior to starting volunteering, you would need to complete a 1-hour on-site training as an introduction to your responsibilities.
If this opportunity interests you, please send an email to ElizabethLinderbaum@aumhc.org or call (303) 617-6883. Thanks! :)

Description
Aurora Youth Options (AYO) is the youth prevention team of Aurora Mental Health & Recovery. AYO works with middle and high-school-aged youth and their families, helping young people gain life skills and confidence for personal success and happiness. AYO assesses each individual youth to determine what resources would be best, offer support and make the connection.
Referrals include mentoring, existing community resources, pro-social activities or enhancing life skill-building.
Nearly half the young people between the ages of 10 and 18 live in challenging situations that put them at risk of not living up to their potential. They need a listening ear and gentle guidance that can turn a negative situation into a life lesson.
Our staff, volunteers, and mentors nurture and help young people grow their personal and professional skills leading to greater happiness and a better outlook as they come into adulthood
