ORGANIZATION: NEW MEXICO COALITION TO END HOMELESSNESS

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Join us as we plan for our first annual "Home Is Where The Art Is" Silent Auction Event, which will benefit homeless children and youth in New Mexico.

Proceeds from the auction will support programs that provide shelter, housing and services to homeless children and youth. Proceeds will also support our advocacy to protect the rights of children and youth experiencing homelessness and to increase funding for proven solutions to homelessness.

Our "Home Is Where The Art Is" Silent Auction will take place in Spring 2018 and will feature artwork that explores the question of "What makes the place we live feel like home?" We need passionate volunteers who are interested in helping us plan an evening of art and entertainment that will benefit some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

We have a Silent Auction Planning Committee that will meet monthly until the event (we'll work with volunteers to establish a regular meeting date & time that works for everyone's schedule).

We need volunteers to help with:

*Picking up and organizing donated art
*Publicizing and advertising the event
*Recruiting artists to donate a piece of art
*Engaging local schools to create and donate art
*Securing sponsorships
*Organizing event logistics
*Arranging food and entertainment
*Setting up and managing the event

Mission Statement

To assist communities to create solutions to homelessness from prevention through permanent housing by using action, advocacy, and awareness.

Description

The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness was founded in 2000 to lead a comprehensive, coordinated and strategic response to homelessness. Today the Coalition has some 70 member organizations that provide housing and services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Coalition has made significant strides towards its vision of ending homelessness. We have helped develop over 1000 permanent supportive housing beds for people with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness, and as a result have seen a measurable decrease in homelessness among people with disabilities.
