Manager of Fundraising & Community Development

Title: Manager of Fundraising & Community Development

Department(s): Management Team

Reports to: President, Vice President

Job Summary: Oversee the management of the Fundraising & Community Development Team


Team Directive


Utilize RMO’s various channels on social media to fundraise and increase public presence of RMO’s mission, vision and strategic initiatives through events, public relations and marketing strategies.


Essential Functions


  • Support the goal of establishing the human capital of the organization as a critical component in accomplishing business goals.
  • Study RMO’s social media insights, trends and analyze data - give monthly report during management call
  • Cultivate new community outreach programs
  • Respond to and utilize RMO email address on a weekly basis
  • Participate in quarterly management conference calls
  • Keep projects on task and meet deadlines as appropriate
  • Promote/discuss all events with entire RMO team & on FB fan page
  • Orient new team members on RMO fan page functionality, volunteer page, event team page, posting guidelines, scheduling posts, utilizing various technical functions of social media
  • Maintain excellent organizational structure regarding details of all event and fundraising functions
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external event attendance with the assistance of Regional Event Coordinators
  • Plan and execute all fundraisers & events
  • Manage all team members to ensure they are on task
  • Ensure all quarterly, weekly, monthly and daily goals are being met


Required Skills


  • Crucial skills include the ability to prioritize, manage project timelines proficiently, keep projects on task and meet deadlines as appropriate
  • Possess strong management skills and the ability to delegate responsibilities to team members
  • Orient new team members on RMO fan page functionality, volunteer page, event team page, posting guidelines, scheduling posts, utilizing various technical functions of social media
  • Maintain excellent organizational structure regarding details of all team functions
  • Must have knowledge of and be proficient in maintaining Gmail account, Google calendar, Google documents, Excel documents, Word documents
  • Ability to manage different personalities and promote accountability and excitement among your team members
  • Must interact with team members and assist in promoting creativity and discussions about new and innovative ideas
  • Must possess excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Possess ability to delegate


Minimum Requirements


    • Event and fundraising plan for calendar year must be complete by end of Q1 and submitted to Board
    • Check Facebook daily and respond to any questions or concerns presented by your team members and/or President, VP, Board of Directors
    • Attend quarterly management calls
  • Confirm RMO’s attendance at events with Board prior to committing
  • All booth ideas must be approved by Board and must meet criteria set by event host
  • Attend at least one event per quarter
  • Shelter Spruce-Up Fundraiser will be planned separately by Project Lead
  • Statewide Pet Food Drive will be planned separately by Project Lead

Team Positions


  • Assistant Manager
    • will assist with all crucial team functions as set forth by team Manager

  • Recruiter
    • Write and maintain volunteer job descriptions
    • Post accordingly to social media when needed in order to promote open positions
    • Update volunteer positions on website
    • Set-up and confirm all interviews
    • Save all resumes to shared google drive file

  • Grant Writing Specialist
    • Research and maintain database of both state and federal grant opportunities for RMO, rescue organizations within Ohio and shelters within Ohio
    • Be prepared to present grant opportunities
    • Apply for grant opportunities when appropriate - must be requested from Board

  • Email Marketing Coordinator
    • Responsible for creating email campaigns via MailChimp. Campaigns will be sent to our list of email subscribers.Content & design must be approved by Creative Director prior to be sent out. Campaigns shall be sent out to inform our supporters of special announcements, events we are hosting, inform of fundraisers, update about any crucial news/issues in the community

  • Social Media Coordinator
    • Develop and maintain Rescue Me Ohio’s presence on: Twitter & LinkedIn
    • Posted content must always be inline with RMO’s policies

  • Public Relations Coordinator
    • Organize campaigns & inform Email Marketing Coordinator
    • Ensure that events go smoothly
    • Write and publish all press releases for special projects/events/campaigns
    • Contact various media outlets throughout the state in regards to promoting special projects/events/campaigns

  • Marketing & Merchandising Specialist
    • Update and maintain e-commerce store once operational
    • Place all apparel orders for RMO volunteers (as directed)
    • Place all orders for swag
      • Research swag
      • Present new swag ideas
    • Update and maintain database of vendors & merchandise
    • Promote new apparel or hard goods to public - work with Email Marketing Coordinator for email blasts
    • Inventory management & order fulfilment

  • Donation Coordinator
    • Responsible for requesting all donations of hard goods to be utilized for fundraisers at events/online auctions etc.
    • Must keep a log (already live on Google Docs in team folder) of all requested and received donations of hard goods from both individuals and businesses
    • Responsible for logistics of getting donations to and from events; as well as ensuring final delivery to winner

Projects and Responsibilities:


      • Annually
        • Create plan of events for RMO to attend - due end of Q1. Google Form must be submitted for each event.
        • Create fundraising plan for year - due end of Q1. Google Form must be submitted for each fundraiser.
        • Create donation request plan - due end of Q1
        • Create Email Marketing Plan - due end of Q1
      • Quarterly
        • Update Master Event Log with pertinent information
        • Gather information for email marketing campaigns; create templates
        • Marketing & Merchandising Specialist to review all inventory quantities and assess whether or not to place an order
        • PR Coordinator to review any upcoming events/fundraisers and prep for press release/promotion
      • Monthly
        • Inside Scoop (internal newsletter) Created by Marketing & Merchandising Specialist. Distributed via email.
      • Weekly
        • Update event log - Manager/Assistant Mgr
        • Update donation log - Donation Coordinator



      • Daily
        • Update vendor & merchandise catalog as needed - Marketing & Merchandising Specialist
        • Post to social media accounts regarding upcoming events that we are attending or hosting
        • PR Coordinator - post Animal Rescue Site content to FB and Twitter (fundraiser)
        • Post fundraisers, adoption events etc. for shelters and approved rescues
