2013 Fall 5K at the Farm

This year, in lieu of the Maize Maze and in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Rio Grande Community Farm, please join us for a 5K/10K/family fun costume run, Family Friendly Fundraiser and Fall Festival!

Come out to the Los Poblanos Open Space fields on Saturday, November 4th and get active, celebrate public lands and urban agriculture and just plain enjoy the day with music, food, beer and performances!

^^^ We need volunteers to help us make this event a success!

Volunteer Shifts Needed:

    • Run Setup ( 6:30-8:30 am)
    • Run Administration (7:30-9:30 am) *Most needed*
    • Run Teardown ( 9:30-10:30 am)
    • Farm Festival Setup ( 10 am-12 pm)
    • Festival Administration ( 12-3 pm)
    • Festival Teardown ( 3-5 pm)

Volunteer Perks

All volunteers will receive a farm t-shirt, admission to the Fall Festival, and a meal (breakfast or lunch, depending on the shift). These items equate to a $30 value for volunteering your time.

About the Rio Grade Community Farm

Rio Grande Community Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit that manages a 2-acre community garden, educates through the Las Huertas farmer training program and promotes sustainable agriculture to strengthen Albuquerque’s bonds to its rich agricultural history and quality, healthy, food.

Description

Rio Grande Community Farm is a certified organic urban farm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. RGCF was founded as a non-profit organization in 1997 and has grown to support acres of wildlife habitat, a 2-acre community garden, year-round environmental education opportunities, and a center for strengthening food and sustainable agriculture literacy in Albuquerque. The Farm offers activities for all age groups - including Farm tours, workshops, and service projects. Scores of people grow their own food in the Community Garden.
