Every year, the Campaign for Working Families, Inc. recruits, trains, and manages hundreds of
volunteers who staff free tax sites across Philadelphia and surrounding counties, including South Jersey.
In 2017, CWFI’s Philadelphia and South Jersey tax sites provided over 39,000 taxpayers with access to
important tax credits through free tax preparation, resource building and asset development. Since our
founding, CWFI has brought in over $350 million in refunds to the region’s economy.
For this upcoming tax season, CWFI is seeking highly motivated and mature individuals with above-
average PC and software skills to fill our Tax Associate volunteer positions. The position is ideal for
individuals who possess strong quantitative skills, accounting or tax preparation experience. This is a
great training opportunity for Accounting, Finance and Business majors.
Tax Associates will be engaged in various roles including tax preparation (including virtual) and operations/administrative support. Duties and responsibilities may expand based upon individual strengths and schedule availability. Must be available to attend 8 hours of training scheduled in January.
Must be available to work daytime shifts, two to three days a week (Monday-Saturday) during tax
season Jan. 15th - April 15th. Minimum requirement of 24 hours served throughout the tax season .
Volunteers will be engaged in a variety of activities/projects including the following:
o Obtain IRS tax certification at Basic or Advanced level
o Tax Preparation
o Quality Review
