Brookside Nature Center is looking for evening help to feed our shy, wild and nocturnal flying squirrels.
Volunteers fill four platform feeders with sunflower seeds for these small mammals (and marauding raccoons) once a week at dusk. This is a perfect job for independent adult volunteers who have only a half hour at the most to spare for volunteering once a week.
A schedule will be set up with staff, and is flexible for vacations and illness. Volunteers are needed to feed the squirrels on Sunday or Tuesday evenings.

Our agency is located just north of Washington D.C., and was originally created to protect the stream valleys around the D.C. area. We have grown into a 34,000 acre park system with over 400 local, urban and regional parks; recreation centers; ballfields; playgrounds; nature centers, a botanic garden and over 200 miles of trails.
