The first weekend of November commemorates the day in 1864 that Maryland freed all people held in bondage within its boundaries. Countywide, there are several events this weekend, including tours of the Harper Cabin at Brookside Nature Center.

Volunteers will introduce visitors to the cabin, the home of a landowning African American family during the late 1800s. Volunteers will also help with pressing apple-iscous cider and other old time activities.

Choose to work either Saturday, November 4 from 10:00 - 4:00 or Sunday, November 5, from 10:00 - 4:00...or both days!
