Harvesting Sagebrush Seed for Restoration Project

- Volunteers will help harvest sagebrush seed from established sagebrush clumps west of the Refuge Visitor Center.
- Work will include hand-stripping sagebrush seeds from mature sagebrush plants. Stripped materials will be deposited into a bucket. Full buckets will be poured into a 50 gallon plastic bag.
- Objective is to get at least one full 50 gallon bag of seeds product.

Description
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, founded by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 25, 1909, is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS).
Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the System preserves a network of lands and waters set aside for the conservation and management of the nation's fish, wildlife, and plant resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
