Become an ABE Math Lab Tutor!

About

Many of our Adult Basic Education (ABE) learners have a variety of math-related goals. Pre-GED students are working to improve their math scores up to a sixth-grade level to gain access to a High School-Equivalent Diploma program. Beginning-level students seek to build their basic math skills, and may desire to learn how to do specific things, like interpret bus schedules, measure distance and time, count change, and more.

LSW is in need of compassionate volunteers to become ABE Math Lab Tutors at our downtown location. Effective tutors can explain a concept in simple terms, accurately guide their students’ work, and inject enthusiasm and encouragement into their lessons. You don’t need teaching experience or a degree in mathematics; writers, professionals, engineers, and creative types can all make good ABE Math Lab Tutors. It’s okay if you aren’t a master at every skill set; learning the material along with students is a great way to bond with and encourage them!
