Greetings!

The Center for Healthcare Careers of SE Wisconsin is recruiting mentors for high school students in the Milwaukee Public Schools. Mentors can be students pursuing postsecondary education (undergraduate and graduate students) in a healthcare career, current healthcare professionals and retired healthcare professionals, or faculty from area postsecondary institutions. Mentors may meet with students under two general structures -

  • "in-class" mentor, assisting teachers with labs, projects and providing subject matter expertise
  • "out-of-classroom" mentor, meeting with students 1:1 monthly

If you are interested in signing up, please take the following two steps to get started!

  1. Submit your MPS Volunteer application.

On the Preference drop down, select the Healthcare Career Pipeline Student Mentor option.

We’ll select specific sites at the orientation.

  1. Sign up for one of the two orientation sessions.

Sessions are offered at Central Office, 5225 W. Vliet Street, at the following times:

o October 18, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

o October 31, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
