The Fresh Truck is looking to fill a unique translating volunteer opportunity at the Neponset Health Center Weekly Market Stop that will not only assist us but make sure that our busiest stop has a seemly customer experience that creates community & healthy food culture. This weekly market stop occurs from 8:30-10:30 am in front of the Neponset Health Center every Tuesday.
This volunteer position requires a volunteer who is comfortable translating Vietnamese during our Neponset Weekly Market Stop. Volunteers will help greet customers, assist customers with their questions during their shop, and translate during the transactions. Get ready to meet great people, see a positive impact on community health, and take home some fruits and veggies for free!
We do not require for volunteers to stay during the entirety of the weekly market stop but are interested in having volunteers that can consistently make it on Tuesdays. If things go well after the first volunteer opportunity we would be willing to compensate a translator to come to this stop weekly.

Description
It all started while Josh, our founder, was working as a health educator at the MGH Charlestown Healthcare Center. He kept hearing from his families that it was difficult to shop for healthy food - at that time, the only grocery store in the neighborhood was shutting down for a year-long renovation. The health center had no way of solving for the fact that patients didn’t have access to the food they needed to stay healthy. It was this experience that inspired Fresh Truck to rethink the traditional grocery store model, make it mobile, and bring food closer to the people who need it the most. In 2018, we expanded our efforts to address health disparities by developing Fresh Connect, a platform that makes it possible for health care providers to prescribe food as medicine. We have a big vision for the future of food and healthcare, and we are only just getting started.
