Mandarin Translators Needed to Help Seniors!

Avenidas is looking for bilingual volunteers who speak Mandarin or Cantonese to help Avenidas staff with our Rose Kleiner Center, a quality daytime care place for older adults. Rose Kleiner provides a safe & secure environment for older adults, as an alternative to being home alone and socially isolated. Volunteers help staff enrich participants' lives by providing stimulating activities, socialization and a nutritious lunch daily, Monday through Friday.

Volunteers are needed:

10-11am - daily for arts/crafts/other activities
11-1 - daily for lunch conversation with participants (lunch supplied to volunteers)
1-2pm - daily for arts/crafts/other activities

We also need volunteers at other times of the day to generally help with communication between staff and participants. The program runs from 9:30am-2:30pm.

Volunteers will help Avenidas staff communicate non-English speaking seniors who come to the program at the Avenidas Rose Kleiner Center. This is particularly important as we have an increasing number of participants from the Chinese community attending our program. Volunteers must complete an interview, application and TB test to work with our senior population.
