Bay Area Tutoring Association's mission is to create a world where all children, regardless of their circumstances, their abilities, their zip codes, their gender, the color of their skin, or any other qualifier, have access to a quality education to reach their fullest potential. We believe that education is a basic necessity, and that when children are given the tools and resources they need to succeed, they can create incredible futures, not only for themselves but for all of those around them.

We’re committed to providing small group tutoring and mentoring tailored to each child, taking into account their unique circumstances and experiences, while appreciating their particular gifts and abilities. We utilize an evidence based, humanistic approach to help children from all backgrounds overcome the educational achievement gap, and address their unique academic, emotional and behavioral needs.

Our Tutors
We are actively looking for motivated and dedicated tutors to join our team. Our goal is to provide effective, high-quality tutoring to students in order to improve their knowledge and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Our tutors come from a variety of backgrounds including current professors, retired professors, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, lawyers, accountants, doctors, nurses, university students, master’s candidates, and more.
All tutors undergo a thorough interview process and background check to ensure we’re getting the best tutors and mentors for our students!

Required:
- Must have at least 2 years of teaching/tutoring experience.
- Are highly motivated with a charismatic personality.
- Be consistent, compassionate, and committed.
- Have morning, afternoon availability. T/TH, 10-1 pm
- Be able to commit AT LEAST 6 months.
- Must have a clean background completed.
- Have a passion for teaching & inspiring student success.
- Have excellent communication skills to teach properly.
- Know how to motivate children who are struggling in school.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check

  • Mentoring: 2 years (Preferred)

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

The mission of the Bay Area Tutoring Association is to develop an academic tutoring workforce for the support of Common Core Math, Literacy, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), STEM, Computer Science intervention and enrichment programs and services. We collaborate with parents, teachers, educational leaders, school sites, districts, CBO's, non-profits, foundations and other organizations for the development of growth mindsets and life-long learners of Bay Area students in grades K thru 12.

Description

The Bay Area Tutoring Association is a dynamic academic support and enrichment 501c(3) organization designed to complement our education system. It is comprised of a collective of educators, tutors, parents, students, community members, grass roots organizations and business leaders with a shared desire to invest in the future prosperity of the San Francisco Bay Area through the facilitation of student academic development, parent empowerment and quality extended learning programs.

Our core pillars are tutor training, educational programs and services, parent and student awareness. We strongly believe a trained, properly equipped and confident tutor can be a critical component to the life success of anyone, especially a child in need of academic support. We also believe parent and student awareness increase opportunity and equity for all. Every employee, contractor and volunteer affiliated with the Bay Area Tutoring Association is required to perform with integrity and adhere to ethical standards beyond reproach.
