Create a monthly newsletter using a free MailChimp account. This will be sent to the members of the Community Committee for International Students at Stanford. There is typically one feature article, a listing of new members, and a listing of upcoming events. If you know how to use MailChimp, that would be helpful, but it is a very user-friendly program and no more difficult to use than an online photo album application. Some photography might be involved, but using your phone camera will likely be fine. You are encouraged to be familiar with CCIS programs and people. Mission Statement
We guide our decisions and actions by the goal of supporting international students, post-docs, scholars and their families at Stanford University and promoting interaction between the local community and the Stanford international student population. CCIS volunteers do not pressure anyone to accept his/her political, cultural, or religious beliefs. We respect all confidential information.
Description
We are a 501(c)3 within Stanford University. CCIS has welcomed, united, supported and connected community members to Stanford International Graduate students for over 64 years. We need volunteers to meet one-on-one for one hour a week with an international graduate student to help with conversational English. An in-person interview is required prior to being matched it a student.Students do not have transportation, so we prefer people who can drive to meet the student. No lesson plans are required. Membership in CCIS is required, with no dues, but donations are appreciated.
