Mission Statement

Community 360 is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving the frail elderly living in nursing homes. We recruit, train and place trusted volunteers in nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the Omaha Metro area. Community 360 Volunteers become a long-term source of support and companionship for residents, restoring dignity, hope and improving their sense of well-being. We serve the elderly regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender. or sexual orientation. (c) 2012 Community 360

Description

Less than half of all nursing home residents receive regular visits from anyone.

Studies show that people not receiving visitors die twice as quickly in the same period of time as those people who do get visitors.

Loneliness has been linked to the incident rate of Alzheimer's disease.

Lack of socialization can lead to over-use of psychoactive medications to manage people.

Suicide incident rates are highest for persons 65 years of age and older.

As a result, people are not dying from old age, but rather they are dying from a broken heart.

Volunteer visits save lives.
