ORGANIZATION: IGNITE WORLDWIDE

Join an IGNITE panel discussion!
Inspire girls to pursue STEM careers by sharing your story!

The heart of IGNITE’s curriculum are the in-school panel discussions featuring professional women in STEM careers: sharing their career journey with a group of girls. Panelists are asked to give a 3-7 minute talk about their experiences as a STEM professional and the path they took to get where they currently are.

We all tell kids to follow their passions but girls often do not yet know if STEM careers could be their passion because they only either have negative views or no experience with these career choices at all. It is urgent that we take this time so they may understand what is available to them in STEM careers, that there is a career for every interest, and from there they can have the choice to find their passion in STEM.

We provide speaker guidelines to all approved speakers.

Mission Statement

IGNITE™ inspires girls to become the future technology leaders and innovators of our world. We work directly with teachers to provide engaging events like field trips to local companies, panels with professional women in STEM, and hands-on workshops. We serve all girls and non-binary students, with a focus on students from undeserved communities, students of color, and those who may have not yet considered a future in STEM.

Description

Started in 1999, IGNITE (Inspiring Girls Now In Technology Evolution) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that introduces school girls from grades 6-12 to technology careers via panel discussions, job shadowing, mentoring and field trips throughout the school year to visit the work places of professional women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers.

IGNITE has educated and empowered over 60,000 young women in middle school and high school grades to pursue education and careers in STEM. In the Seattle School District alone, female participation in technology classes soared from under 5% to over 50% after implementing the IGNITE program. The IGNITE program is also donated to countries all over the world, where local educators lead the program and empower girls in their communities.
