ORGANIZATION: At Home Humanitarian

  • 10 people are interested

At Home Humanitarian contracts with refugee resettlement and community organizations to help them find volunteer mentors for their clients (refugees). Anyone volunteering through us would first complete a $39 background check (we use VerifiedVolunteers.com and make no money whatsoever off of it) and 4-5 hours of online training before being matched. We also provide fun and engaging educational and cultural experiences for refugees, asylees, and immigrants to attend alongside our volunteers and community members from within the same communities as those who have newly-arrived. Our mentors commit to 8-10 hours per month to help who the individual or family they are matched with by spending time with them, introducing them to new experiences like going to the grocery store, learning English, applying for jobs, etc. The volunteers will work directly with us and, sometimes, our partner organizations to discuss the needs of their match and find solutions to those needs. Right now we have a high need for male volunteer mentors but will try to match everyone and anyone interested. You may volunteer as an individual, couple, family, duo, etc. If we aren't able to match you as a mentor right away, we would love to connect with you regarding ways you might build up an AHH in your area. We would love to know more about you! Please fill out the volunteer interest form at http://www.athomehumanitarian.org/participate.html. We look forward to serving alongside you!
