Judicial Evaluator: Volunteers attend a short training webinar and/or listen to recorded trainings to get familiar with a judicial rubric and legal case. They use the rubric to score students acting as mock attorneys, witnesses, and judges in trial and appellate courts. A legal background is useful but not required! Judicial Evaluators are our largest volunteer need. Thank you!
Upcoming webinar trainings:
- December 14, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.
- January 11, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Texas Youth and Government! This Conference represents the culmination of our students' civics and leadership work each year. Students learn the fundamentals of democracy and government and compete as attorneys, witnesses, judges, legislators, policy analysts, lobbyists, journalists, and elected officials. Events take place at a number of locations including the State Capitol, the Travis County Courthouse, and the Renaissance Austin. We will contact you individually to schedule a specific shift. Half-day (9:00-1:00/12:30-5:00) and full-day (9:00-5:00) shifts are available. Full-day volunteers receive lunch on us!
