HopeMatch is a non-profit serving the Greater Charlotte, NC area. We serve those who are struggling with temporary situations that make it hard to make ends meet. This could include those going through a medical crisis causing them to be out of work, those who's hours have been cut recently, those who were recently laid off, among other situations. We are working on our holiday program right now and will need some administrative assistance from October through mid-December. The right person for this role will have great communication skills, be accountable, a fast learner, and able to work on their own. It is a virtual position primarily. This is a great opportunity for a psychology, sociology, or human services student to get hands on experience in the non-profit world.

Here are some of the duties for this role:

  • Vet holiday referrals by calling the person who made the nomination to make sure it is a legitimate nomination
  • Back up Phone Team if there are urgent needs with calling families to get Christmas wish lists
  • Wish List Clean Up--check wish lists for grammatical errors and clean up "family story" before sending to donor to shop
  • Tree Vouchers--Email Christmas tree vouchers to families the last week of November
  • Turkeys--Communicate with families regarding turkey giveaways for Thanksgiving
  • Manage Scribe Volunteers assigning families to them and emailing family information to volunteers, following up with them to make sure we get their cards timely
  • Give Back Event--serve on the event planning committee for this event on Saturday, 12/2. Attend/volunteer at event.

HopeMatch is a local charity serving those who are unseen and underserved in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. We started as a Christmas program, but have grown into much more. While our Christmas program of matching local families in need with people who want to provide personalized Christmas gifts and encouragement to their neighbor is still the heart of what we do, we have expanded our services to address the growing needs of the families we serve. Throughout the year, you will find multiple ways to give financially and volunteer, all while making a lasting difference in your community.
