Are you looking for a way to be of service in your community? The Spahr Center is currently matching volunteers with homebound seniors for a friendly weekly home visit. This is purely a social visit; you might play scrabble, chat about sports, enjoy a meal together, or simply chat about whatever it is they might want to chat about!! We take great care in making matches that are gratifying for both the volunteer as well as the senior. A great way to give back to your community that can fit into anyone’s schedule!!

About The Spahr Center
Location:
910 Irwin Street, San Rafael, CA 94901, US
Mission Statement
Our mission is to serve, support and empower Marin's LBGTQ community and everyone in our county living with and affected by HIV.
Description
The Spahr Center was formed in March 2015 through the merger of Marin AIDS Project (MAP) and Spectrum LGBT Center. From the beginning, we had a strong connection through our mutual founder, Jane Spahr. In 1982, she created Ministry of Light which became Spectrum LGBT Center. In 1984, in response to the AIDS epidemic, Jane Spahr also founded Marin AIDS Support Network, later renamed Marin AIDS Project. The decision to name our blended organization for Jane Spahr, a courageous and inspirational leader, seemed only appropriate and natural.
From the beginning, MAP was the only AIDS service organization in the county and Spectrum, Marin’s only LGBT Center. Through the years, MAP and Spectrum worked side by side, each providing programs, services, support and advocacy. MAP concentrated on providing health related services and HIV prevention and education. Spectrum focused on advocacy, education and supportive services for the LGBTQ community in both Marin and the North Bay.
We merged to gain administrative efficiency and overall strength and stability, assuring that the communities we serve could count on our being here and standing strong for as long as we are needed.
