Are you a veteran? Would you like to help other veteran's at end of life? Novant Health Hospice has the opportunity for you. In this program, you will have the opportunity to visit with our veteran patients to provide them companionship and support during their final days. Research shows the veteran to veteran pairings greatly improve Veteran's end of life care, because they appreciate the commodore and companionship of another veteran brethren. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Pinning Ceremonies.
All veteran patients who want a ceremony are granted one. This is a small celebration honoring those who have served with a certificate, and a pin on their lapel letting them know we are honored to serve them.
We would love to have you join, and again, thank you for your service to our country!
**COVID-19 UPDATE 3/27/20**
During this unpredictable time, our needs for outpatient volunteers is greater than ever. With many community members practicing social distancing, caregivers are feeling more strain than they were previously without volunteer support, and patients more isolated and alone. Novant Health is updating their policies and precautions daily to ensure the safety of all team members, volunteers, and patients

Description
Providing care for a loved one who is sick and can no longer look after themselves can be one of the biggest challenges a family has to face. These conditions can arise from old age, severe illness or crippling injuries, but regardless of the cause, we believe that no family should have to face these challenges alone.
Our hospice services provide a wide range of services and care-giving that can help patients and their loved ones when it is needed the most. Comfort, compassion and dignity are at the forefront of the care we provide.
Our hospice care specialists provide care for terminally ill patients and their families. We know how sensitive these times may be, and our goal is to provide patients and their families with effective healthcare that will improve the quality of a patient’s last days.
We provide an individualized treatment plan to comfortably manage pain and physical symptoms of each need a patient may have. Our team is made of doctors, nurses, medical social workers, chaplains, grief counselors, and volunteers that work together to help patients live life as comfortably and fulfilled as possible.
