Are you passionate about soccer? Are you a coach or a football player? Would you like to make a difference in undeveloped communities?

We are looking for volunteers, Football Coaches & Football Players, to develop a Football Academy in rural Africa.

Football is the common source of entertainment in Ghana, there are 9 village and 500 kids between 10 to 18 years old in Abetenin area. In each of these villages there are under 20, under 17 and under 13 football teams but there is no management. There are lots of young talents but there are no trained coaches, most of these teams are managed by people who themselves lack managerial and technical skills.

This is why WE NEED YOU to train local coaches and help us to create the structure of the Football Academy.

  • If you are a FOOTBALL COACH, you will travel to Ghana to develop football coaching workshops. You will provide an insight into the game, technically and managerially, and you will contribute to create a generation of coaches able to support the development of future players.

  • If you are an experienced FOOTBALL PLAYER, you will travel to Ghana to train with the local football players, sharing your love and passion, your skills and knowledge of the game and the universal benefits of football.

Free time Activities! Volunteers can take part in some of the social events in the everyday life of the community, such as traditional festivals, worship and meetings to gain new skills. There will be opportunities for lush forest hikes, day-trips to experience any of the regional attractions, or guided tours to explore the nearby villages and townships.

If you are more than 18 years old, love sports and can travel to Ghana for a minimum of 2 weeks, please get in touch! nka.footballacademy@gmail.com

NKA Foundation is a non profit organization that exists to serve communities in rural Ghana, Gambia, Senegal and Tanzania through the use of the arts and design education. We do this by creating project sites where individuals, groups and institutions interact with local communities to build cultural bridges for knowledge and skills transfer. One of these sites is the Abetenim Arts Village near Kumasi in Ghana, where we will develop our Football Academy.

Mission Statement

Nka Foundation exists to serve underserved communities in Africa and similar places with a focus on the arts and design.

Description

Nka Foundation began in 2005 and exists to serve underserved communities in Africa through projects in the arts and architecture. We do this by creating a network of arts villages where the global community comes to engage in projects to inspire the needy communities to sustainable development. Nka Foundation’s arts village projects draw on asset-based approach to community development through the tapping of existing, but often unrecognized abundant local resources to help the rural community drive their development process. This involves creative research and use of local materials and vernacular methods used in the region to create arts and design products.

Throughout the year, the Foundation organizes international workshops that invite volunteer-sending organizations, university students, arts and design professionals and international development experts to immerse in the local lifestyle and collaborate with the local people on projects for exchange of knowledge and skills.

Nka is looking to partner with like-minded organisations, companies and community-spitited individuals from around the globe. Contact: info@nkafoundation.org / www.nkafoundation.org
