We are in need of mentors today! Sign up to attend our Sept 14th evening training!
Volunteer mentors provide social supports and healthy, fun activities outside of school for youth between age 6-12 who lives in Gresham and East County. Individuals, couples, and entire families encouraged to apply to mentor!
Individuals interested are asked to give 1-3 hours per week for at least one year, and are trained, screened, and supported by professional staff every step of the way. Many sponsored activities and stipends are also provided to support our mentors. However, feedback from Mentors and Mentees alike say that its about the relationship, not the activities.
*Our youth value a consistent commitment but we understand outside circumstances come up from time that may impact your ability to show up here and there, we can support you if this comes up.
Although we request only a year commitment, we find often matches continue mentoring the same youth for multiple years, or until the youth graduates high school.*

We welcome, value and include volunteers from all backgrounds and abilities.

Mission Statement
At Family of Friends we leverage the power of mentoring relationships in East County to support positive self-identity and youth leadership, so young people have a platform to build the futures they want for themselves and their communities.
Description
For 16 years Family of Friends has been helping low-income families by matching kids with caring, adult volunteer mentors and mentor families. We build systems of support so kids and families build strong connections and the entire community benefits!
With a focus on prevention, our program pairs kids with volunteer adults, couples and entire families as mentors. Our awesome kids live in East Multnomah County, range in age from 6-12 and typically come from low-income backgrounds.
Through weekly outings outside of school, mentors help kids build social and emotional skills linked to academic success, and provide access to safe, fun activities in the community.
