Volunteers Needed for the American Cancer Society
2017-2018 Relay For Life of Newtown to Help Save Lives
The American Cancer Society Relay of Life of Newton is seeking local volunteers that are passionate, energetic, movers and shakers to become a part of our Event Leadership Team! This team plans and executes the Relay For Life of Newtown.
From event logistics, recruiting teams to join us on the track, marketing the event, planning our cancer survivor reception, creating and facilitating event ceremonies, scheduling entertainment and activities - these are just a few of the many opportunities and responsibilities taken on by our team of dedicated volunteers aimed at eliminating cancer once and for all!
It only takes a LITTLE time and a BIG heart! We are looking for help with ...
- Sponsorship Outreach prior to the day of Relay
- Survivor Reception prior to and the day of Relay
- Community Outreach prior to the day of Relay
- Luminaria prior to and the day of Relay
- Day of Volunteers
- Set Up
- Clean Up
- Oversee Activities/ Entertainment during the day
Volunteers are the backbone of this movement, and you can be part of it right here in Newtown. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, we celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change.
Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease today, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations. During Relay For Life events, members of each team take turns walking or running around the track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.
