Mission Statement

Helping Others Make Everything Right (HOMER) are organizers, advocates of people living in low income public housing and section 8 voucher/subsidized housing having the right to safe, decent, sanitary housing that continues to be affordable while on their very own journey to self-sufficiency and success.

Description

Helping Others Make Everything Right-HOMER are advocates of the people living in low income HUD housing having the same right to safe, decent, sanitary housing as you and I that continues to be affordable while on their journey to self sufficiency and success. HOMER provides educational and social services that helps families maintain affordable housing and understand that they have rights and responsibilities. HOMER encourages residents to get involved in their communities to help increase opportunities. HOMER implements activities and programs based on the needs of the people. Most of our services are geared toward helping others make better choices and decisions by providing guidance, resources and referrals. HOMER's top priority is to advocate for true affordable housing, help engage residents to become active law abiding citizens and gain access to the resources toward being better parents, becoming employed, building better relationships, volunteering, becoming educated and learning how to deal with and communicate conflicts, issues, and ideas to the people that make the final decisions. Also, helping others realize their talents and skills to create a learning environment in their homes and community. HOMER helps to change stereotypes of the critical persons who really have no idea of the everyday struggles people in housing face just to have access to a roof over their head. HOMER offers the journey to willing HUD Housing residents that want self sufficiency and success as it is envisioned.
