ORGANIZATION: Palomacy Pigeon and Dove Rescue and Adoptions

  • 11 people are interested

Palomacy.org is a diverse, supportive, positive community of people who love pigeons and doves. Our Ploughshares Aviary is 100% run by volunteers and we always need help! Are you interested in birds? Do you value quiet and harmony? Can you spare an hour a week? Then WE need YOU!

Every day one of our volunteers visits the aviary, cleans up after the birds, provides fresh water and food and checks on everyone's health. There is always time to socialize with the birds and to observe their delightful behavior, and post videos on our Facebook page.

(Not interested in helping with our aviary? We have lots of other ways to volunteer!)

The commitment is about 1 hour per session; we would prefer volunteers who can commit to once a week for several months. Generally volunteers work solo after a few training sessions with existing volunteers.

If interested, please complete our full volunteer application at: http://www.pigeonrescue.org/volunteer/volunteer-application/

About Palomacy Pigeon and Dove Rescue and Adoptions

Location:

Community Initiatives, 354 Pine Street, Suite 700, San Francisco, CA 94104, US

Mission Statement

Palomacy saves domestic (unreleasable) pigeons and doves that would otherwise be killed in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide vet care, foster homes and adoptions. Since 2007, Palomacy has rescued more than 800 birds and helped countless others through coaching, education and referral.

Description

Palomacy (a project of Community Initiatives) is a network of volunteers working together to save the lives of domestic, unreleasable pigeons and doves that would otherwise be killed in shelters for lack of adopters. Volunteers respond to calls from shelters, vets, and good samaritans to provide avian vet care for ill or injured birds, long-term foster care, and to develop adopters and place them into qualified forever homes.
