Hospitality Volunteer (PM Shift)
Hospitality volunteers engage with the guests and assist the staff with shelter operations. Volunteers on the PM shift (5:30 to 8:30 PM) check-in guests, manage the sign-in log, monitor the shower schedule, assist with laundry, and complete other tasks as needed. Hospitality Support (AM Shift)
Hospitality volunteers engage with the guests and assist the staff with shelter operations. Volunteers on the AM shift (6:30 to 8:00 AM) assemble breakfast bags, take food inventory, complete remaining laundry, wash breakfast dishes, clean the kitchen, and complete other tasks as needed. Our mission at the Day By Day Warming Shelter is to provide safe, temporary shelter, food, and supportive services for adults. We advocate for collaborative, locally driven solutions for those experiencing homelessness in our community.
Description
Day By Day Warming Shelter, Inc. was founded in by a coalition of community members concerned about the lack of safe, temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness in the Oshkosh area. With broad community support from local govenment, police, fire, faith communities and foundations, Day By Day Warming Shelter, Inc. first opened its doors on October 15, 2010.
From the beginning, our mission has been to support the most vulnerable individuals in our community. We strive to treat our guests with dignity and respect, while empowering them toward self-sufficiency and stability.
Day By Day Warming Shelter, Inc. is governed by an executive board of directors, and run by a caring and professional staff. Although we are a fundraising organization, we consider our People to be our most important asset... the individuals we serve, the volunteers we engage, and the professionals we employ.
