Purpose of Position: To promote AWOFINC and affiliates programs and increase community participation.

Position’s Customer(s): Community residents, business owners, clergy.

Essential Duties of Position: The Canvasser is responsible for the following duties: * Become knowledgeable of AWOFINC and community partner’s initiatives, programs and services and be able to communicate them clearly and effectively to community members * Canvass door-to-door promoting AWOFINC and affiliate’s initiatives and sign up volunteers and participants for services * Maintain a neat and professional appearance

Job Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Must be personable and outgoing * Must have excellent oral communication skills * Must maintain a positive relationship and present a professional image to all current and potential participants * Must be comfortable going door-to-door * Ability to read a map and apply basic map reading skills and/or have Map App on their mobile phone * Must be able to walk continuously for extended periods of time up to 3 hours

Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications: Previous sales experience preferred, but not required.

Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Reporting Relationships: Position reports to: Community Outreach Coordinator number of Direct Reports (if applicable): TBD

Physical Requirements: LIGHT: Ability to perform light physical demanding work. Physical effort may include lifting, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking for extended periods of time, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive bending/twisting motions. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally throughout shift. Talking and reciprocal communication is required at least 85% of the day.

Working Conditions: Light work in varying outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and ice.

Driving Requirements (if applicable): May be required to have a valid driver’s license with proof of insurance and a reliable source of transportation. This position requires travel via automobile or public transportation throughout various areas and may expose the individual to extreme cold and moist weather conditions for brief periods of time.
