SVdP Thrift Store Volunteer

Locations: Redwood City, San Mateo, SSF, and San Bruno

Community Need Addressed by Volunteer's Service: Our four thrift stores make available low cost and no cost goods to the community. In addition to distributing and selling clothing and householdgoods to those in need, the SVdP Thrift Stores create employment and job training opportunities while also providing the community with a recycling program for used goods. Volunteers can play an essential role in what we do by helping us process donations, stock the store, and assist clients and customers with their needs.

Job Description:
- Donation Receiving: Greet and accept donations from donors. Help donors unlod donations and fill out a donation receipt. Direct donations to sorting areas.
- Donation Cleaning and Stocking: Help get donations ready to be distributed and sold by cleaning and preparing items for the sales floor. Assist with the stocking of items after they have been cleaned and priced.
- Merchandising and Recovery: Re-hang, re-size, and assist with the clean presentation of items on the sales floor. Help items find their way back to their department. Assist with the visual representation and display of items.
-Cashiering: Greet and assist customers and clients with their purchases and clothing redemption.

Qualifications/Skills: Should feel comfortable moving around in a retail environment. Will be asked to handle items sometimes weigh up to 10lbs.

Time Commitment: 2-3 hour shifts any day of the week. Between 10am to 8pm (Monday-Saturday); Between 10am to 6pm (Sunday).

We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
