Make a difference in a Baltimore kid's life! Northstar Baltimore's tutoring/mentoring program is relaunching this fall with the new school year. While providing online tutoring during the pandemic, we are transitioning to in person when appropriate. Volunteers are trained in effective teaching techniques and then matched with kids in Baltimore City school students in the Highlandtown neighborhood. Sessions are ty;ically early afternoon at the neighborhood schools or early evening at the Martin Pollak Project offices at 3701 Eastern Avenue.
- Volunteers work with their students on homework and teacher-assigned materials, typically with a focus on math and literacy, throughout a school year.
- Time commitment is 1.5 hours per week plus once a month social activities for 3 hours on a weekend to build our community.
- Background check and covid vaccination are required.
- Apply now at www.mppi.org/volunteer-applications or call 443-447-2245 for more information. Volunteers must be over 18 and live in Maryland.
