'Pat's Close' Shop Clerk - Daly City Partnership

Location: Daly City
'Pats Closet' Volunteers are needed to sort, clean, and display gently used clothing and small household items (dishes, linens, kitchen appliances, etc.). Clients pre-register to "shop" for what they need and visit Pats by appointment. Volunteers assist clients in finding what they need for their family and their home. Items selected are recorded on shopping lists and subsequently turned in to the Community Service Center at the end of the volunteer shift.
Qualifications/Skills: Courteous, confidential client, customer service, ability to lift 20-40 pounds, ability to climb one flight of stairs - Pats' Closet is NOT ADA accessible, clerical skills, record keeping, ability to speak Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, or Tagalog a plus. Ability to transport goods in personal car a plus, but not mandatory.
Applicants must go through an interview process, submit references, and pass a criminal background check prior to assignment.
Time Commitment: Minimum 3 hours/week; Consistent weekly commitment on the same day each week.
Public Transportation is located 1 block away.
Training/Benefits: Training in office, then on the job training during first 2 weeks.
The joy of assisting those in need in our communtiy access clothing and home goods. Volunteers may access goods needed for themselves, as well, within the limits set forth for the program. Free coffee. Work with great dedicated co-workers who are also committed to helping the community and giving back to those less fortunate.

RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement. We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
