HEY CREW, SAVE THE DATE!

This year’s Brewers Grove Tree Planting and Party in the park will be held on Friday, October 20, 201712-4PM at Highland Park! Yes, a new location- Highland Park!

We’ll be planting over 26 trees together throughout various areas of Highland Park; in the prairie, forest, along paths, the creek and parking lot. The trees we will plant together were selected based on their habitat benefits. This year’s selected trees will help attract more butterflies to Grand Rapids, to compliment with a 1,362 square foot Butterfly Garden that already exists in Highland Park.

Trees will also improve tree diversity, sequester carbon dioxide, reduce storm water, and replace ash trees lost due to the Emerald Ash Borer epidemic. Every hand that digs deep into the spirit of community will be greatly appreciated!

Don’t forget that this is a party, and an open-container permit is in place for this event! Stop by your favorite Grand Rapids area brewery and pick up a growler, howler, crowler, cans or bottles of beer or cider to share!

This year’s event line up:

Noon-2:30PM Tree Planting, starting at noon with a planting demonstration.

2:30-4PM Crack open a brew and enjoy it in the park! Chat with brewers, brewery staff, tree-beer enthusiasts, community volunteers and brainstorm 2018 Tree Beer ideas! Music and snacks will be provided.

4-6PM Everyone is invited to an after party at Creston Brewery!

WHEN: Friday, October 20th, 12pm - 4pm

WHERE: Highland Park, Lloyd Peterson Road Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Empowering people to cultivate vibrant parks, green spaces, and trees in our community.

Description

The mission of Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is to empower people to cultivate vibrant parks, trees, and green spaces in the Grand Rapids community. Our vision is thriving parks and a sustainable urban forest that actively supports our community’s economic, environmental, and cultural health. Our organization was founded in 2008, with the belief that all kids in our community are entitled to experiences in parks and opportunities to connect with nature. For some children in our community, their neighborhood park is their backyard; a place to discover their hidden talents and a place to build confidence in trying new things.
