Sitters Without Borders Moves to Virtual Sitting due to COVID-19
Sitters Without Borders is now offering Virtual Baby-SittingSessions to parents who are taking on-line classes. The sitting sessions are available to parents while they are taking an on-line class or if they need time to do homework.
- 1, one hour sessions per week
- Child/children should be 5 years or older
- Parent must be at home during the entire virtual sitting
A virtual sitting is not the same thing as in-person babysitting. A virtual sitting is using a volunteer sitter to engage children via Zoom/Facetime/Hangouts/Other, for a short period of time. The sessions can be used to assist kids with schoolwork or facilitate an interactive game-like charades. It’s not a replacement for physical care but instead occupies the child to free up the parent while they take an on-line class or do homework.
With virtual sitting, a sitter can: Help with their schoolwork, Play games to keep them occupied, Guide them through engaging activities.
Our community of SWOB Sitters is made up of college students, parents, working adults, retirees and others who want to give their time to empower a student parent to improve life for their family. There is opportunity for regular, weekly volunteering or to Substitute on a more occasional basis throughout the semester. We work around your experience, availability and preferences to find a family that is a great match.
We welcome you to apply today! https://www.sitterswithoutborders.com/

Mission Statement
Sitters For Scholars is a non-profit that offers free babysitting services for parents of low-income families that are returning to college.
Description
Sitters For Scholars, (previously Sitters Without Borders) is a first of it’s kind non-profit organization which offers free babysitting sessions to low-income families in which at least one parent is attending college. Sitters For Scholars provides support throughout Metro Boston with the help of local volunteers who believe that it takes a village to raise a child, while encouraging parents to pursue a higher education.
The sitters volunteering with Sitters For Scholars are frequently enthusiastic college students themselves who understand the amount of time and work that goes into succeeding in college, and value the importance of child care service to parents in school. These volunteers are carefully selected based on their experience with children, dedication to volunteer work and professional credentials. They are thoroughly interviewed, trained, CPR and First Aid trained. They are also reviewed for a clean background check and great references. Each sitter has a profile which is available for parents to view upon confirming a sitter for their family.
The families selected to receive babysitting services are also carefully verified to match our target group. In addition to meeting the basic eligibility requirements for babysitting services, families are interviewed in person and have their homes checked for safety requirements before a sitter comes to their house. If interested, please apply directly on website (https://www.sittersforscholars.org/volunteer)and someone will contact you!
