Mission Statement
The McGlynn Center promotes the dignity and welfare of children and their families living in Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village; two low-income housing developments of the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority. In each respective neighborhood, the Center provides educational, recreational, social, and health programs on a consistent and on-going basis to enhance the children’s potential to become successful and productive citizens.
Description
The McGlynn Center is a safe environment, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. During the school year we provide help with homework, reading, and computer skills to the children and teens residing in the Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village, the two family developments of the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority; we also offer Life Skills and a Teen Program in the early evenings. On school holidays we offer educational and recreational field trips. During the summer we offer an academic program in the mornings and recreational activities and field trips in the afternoons. One day each week we go on an education field trip, inviting parents/guardians to join us.
