West Hartford Community Television is looking for Video Journalists and Camera Operators! There are many events and stories that need coverage in town but we need reliable and think-outside-the-box storytellers! If you enjoy the thrill of talking to new people, travelling/attending various events, coordinating/conducting interviews, producing videos, and researching stories for "the scoop" then this is the job for you! The "Be The Media" Show is a local Ch. 5 program that features videos, photography, artwork, and news-event stories produced by students and/or residents of West Hartford. The program emphasizes creating media at a local level, developing your technology and information gathering skills all while exercising your creativity. This is your chance to be featured on TV as a journalist, segment producer, copywriter, and/or an editor!

Project Goals & Expectations :

• Weekly West Hartford event/news packages
• Independent Remote Full Production Set-up/Take-Down

Required Qualifications :

• Must be local to the Hartford-Metro area (West Hartford, CT resident A PLUS!)
• MUST be a self-starter (e.g. create their own work, regularly investigate and research events/story ideas)
• Physical Demands: standing for long periods and/or moving heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs)
• Strong work ethic and commitment
• Able to work well independently and in group setting
• Keen attention to detail
• Effective communication skills
• Resourceful / calm under tight deadlines
• Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
• Reliable transportation
