Are you a retired teacher or preschool teacher who misses interacting with young children? Do you have some previous experience working with preschoolers and toddlers? Maybe you are in the process of getting your ECE credits and would like to practice reading with young children. If any of this sounds like you, please consider joining the Foster City Library's initiative to reach out to our local preschools and day care centers for storytime programs. We require volunteers for this initiative to be at least 18 years old, to be able to commit for at least 6 months of once-monthly site visits, to pass a background check, and to attend a day-long storytime and policy training. It would be beneficial if you know a little bit about children's literature or have a fondness and a love of children's picture books. Storytime is also a performance art, so the ideal volunteer must be comfortable getting silly, singing, and reading in front of a large crowd. We will provide all materials, coaching, and training you will need to get started.
