ORGANIZATION: HIDDEN VALLEY WILD HORSE PROTECTION FUND

  • 3 people are interested

We are looking for someone to help us by building a new website that will give us more control over content. Looking for a site that we can update with new information on an ongoing basis with an easy format. We have volunteers that are tech savvy enough for the updating, but not quite the building portion! We are an all volunteer non-profit with little funds for anything not directly related to the rescues in our care. (Hence the reason we are looking for a volunteer to do the build)

Mission Statement

Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund (HVWHPF) is a non-profit 501(c)3, all volunteer organization founded over 30 years ago and incorporated in 2008 to protect the free roaming wild horses of Nevada's Virginia Range. In 2012 HVHWHPF, backed by American Wild Horse Campaign and a coalition of wild horse organizations and individual donations, were able to purchase 149 horses (some pregnant) that had been removed from the range by the State of Nevada to keep them from being purchased to ship for slaughter. HVWHPF continues to work to protect horses still in the wild on the range, as well as caring for, and seeking safe adoptive homes for, the rescued horses where they can live out their lives with love and compassion.

Description

HVWHPF is organized exclusively as a non-profit organization run by volunteers.

HVWHPF works to protect and preserve the wild horses that inhabit the Virginia Range in cooperation with other similar organizations and the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

HVWHPF promotes public awareness and education of the Virginia Range wild horses to preserve these wild horses for future generations, including their history, current status, herd management, ecology, and area growth impact.

HVWHPF promotes and facilitates the adoption of all horses in its care deemed adoptable, and reduce its overall numbers to maintain only those horses where it is deemed better to live out their lives in a "sanctuary" situation, ie: those with special needs health issues, or those deemed to be in the latter years of life. If an appropriate long term sanctuary situation is found for those horses, they may be adopted as well.
