Mission Statement

CEC Early College High School, part of Denver Public Schools, is a magnet school near downtown Denver. Our goal is to provide our students with an opportunity to explore various career paths and to experience classes on a college campus while still in high school. Our school has been designated as both "hard to serve" (due to a high percentage of students that qualify for free and reduced lunch) and "distinguished" (due to our performance on recent state tests). The mission of our after school tutoring and mentoring program is to provide young inner-city students with the structure, support and positive encouragement they need to face the challenges they have chosen to take on.

Description

We have a WONDERFUL problem at our school; we have many students showing up after school seeking help, but not enough caring adults to give them the individual attention they need and deserve. I am looking for caring community members to come to our school to help our kids from feeling overwhelmed and loosing sight of their goals. Mentor/Tutors would meet with 1-3 students after school for a few hours every week. Volunteers will help students with organization skills, homework, and most importantly, will be there to provide positive encouragement.
