This fall, more than 300 girls on teams from all over Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts will cross the finish line at the end of their 10-week season. Their coaches, families, and community members will also run and walk or cheer on all our 5K participants. Our 5K would not be possible without the help of amazing volunteers who believe in our mission and show up to support our community. Whatever your special skills and talents, we have a role for everyone including:

Production team - arrive at 6am to set up everything at the 5K village, start and finish line.

Registration
- help with all aspects of 5K registration, checking in pre-registered runners, passing out shirts and bibs, and processing day-of registration.

5K Village Kid Activities - before the 5K starts, inspire participants to get motivated and excited with activities such as happy hair (color hair spray), temporary tattoos, and face painting.

Water Station - prep and pass out water at mile 1 and mile 2.

Finish Line
- help participants clear the finish shoot and get their well-deserved water and snack.
5K SuperStars - run with a GOTR girl who can't provide her own adult 5K buddy during the actual 5K. Current background check is required as is registering for the 5K with a complementary discount code.

About GIRLS ON THE RUN RHODE ISLAND

Location:

PO BOX 72787, PROVIDENCE, RI 02907, US

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.

Description

Girls on the Run Rhode Island proudly serves Providence, Bristol, Kent, Newport, and Washington counties and Bristol County in Massachusetts.

Meeting twice a week after-school in small teams of 15 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons that celebrate the joy of movement. The 16-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.
