Volunteer at the largest Kosher food pantry, where you will actively be doing something positive for others. You will contribute greatly to the services we provide to 500+ families and represent a tremendous resource for all Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward County (GJFS) programs, specially at DBJG Cupboard. Children, teens, and adults who donate their time are valued by the staff, and Holocaust Survivors, homebound families, and seniors who benefit from the food pantry services.

As a essential service to the community during COVID-19 pandemic we are in need of volunteer at the following positions:

Pantry Assistant:

  • Sort food and pack fresh produce
  • Organize items on shelves
  • Move boxes of food
  • Pack groceries
  • Issue groceries to clients through curb side system.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide client service
  • Schedule clients’ appointments
  • Answering the phone, transferring calls, and taking messages.
  • Data entry
  • Checking in the clients

Shifts are available from 8:30 A.M. and 6:00 P.M., during weekdays. As a token of appreciation, students are awarded double community hours. Also, as a safety precaution, temperature is taken to all volunteers and staff members, face coverings are required at all times, and disposable gloves are available while handling food.

Description

Goodman JFS has launched The Cupboard - a kosher food pantry with the goal of wiping out Jewish hunger in Broward County. Our whole-person approach starts with food provision through the distribution of nutritious, kosher food clients can pick from in our choice market layout.
