Join Child Advocates of Silicon Valley at our upcoming Volunteer Info Session to learn how you can serve as a mentor and friend to a child in foster care.

As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, you will be empowered by the courts to provide critical emotional and educational support to your advocate child and ensure that child's voice is heard in the dependency court system.

Most importantly, you will be the one consistent adult in your foster child's life, as well as a mentor and friend.

Who Can Be a CASA Volunteer? You do not need to be a lawyer or social worker to be a volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children and have common sense. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age.

As a CASA volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained by Child Advocates and well supported by our professional staff to help you with each child's case.

Attend Child Advocates next volunteer orientation to learn how you can make a lasting difference in a foster child's life!

Mission Statement

To be there for every foster child in Silicon Valley who has experienced abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.

Description

We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System (commonly referred to as foster care) for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. As an affiliate of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, we are responsible for operating the CASA program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers.

CASA Volunteers are appointed by a judge to be a mentor, advocate and a voice for a child in foster care. It can be a tough and demanding working with children in foster care but it is also very impactful. CASA Volunteers have the ability to help a child in foster care overcome the effects of having experienced trauma.

Change the life trajectory of a foster child. Sign up for an info session on our website to learn more.
