The Nature Connection is seeking small animal "volunteers" with therapeutic/educational potential to share at our program sites.
The Nature Connection provides hands-on, educational and therapeutic programs to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities: at-risk youth, people with disabilities, and elders - including individuals with memory loss, Alzheimer’s and dementia. Through the use of plants, natural materials, and live animals, we bring the joys of nature indoors.
How you can help: Join our Animal Caretaker Team!
If you have animals with therapeutic potential, let us "borrow" them for daytime programs.
Animals Needed:
- Rabbits, Chinchillas, Guinea pigs
- Rats, Ducks, Chickens
- Turtles, Lizards, Snakes
- If you have another sweet animal, let us know!
Animals must be gentle and comfortable with being handled. Animals must be available to be picked-up or dropped-off 2-3 times per month during weekdays.
The Nature Connection conducts a behavioral screening for all potential program animals and can assist in obtaining a Health Certificate from a vet.
We also take human volunteers!
