The Nature Connection is seeking animal "volunteers" with therapeutic/educational potential to share at our program sites. We are looking for individuals who are able to either accompany their animal to a site (programs are 1- hour in length) once a month (more if willing!) or let us borrow your animal for a program.
The Nature Connection delivers nature-based educational and therapeutic programs to people in need. Through the use of natural materials, hands-on activities and animals, we connect individuals with nature’s capacity to heal, teach and create joy. Our programs are 1-hour long (with an additional 1/2 hour set-up and 1/2 hour pack-up) and take place between 10am-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Nature Connection is a traveling program; our client sites are in Concord, Waltham, Lowell, Bedford, Lexington, Cambridge, Malden, and several other locations throughout Greater Boston.
We are seeking the following animals: chinchillas, rabbits, small birds (including finches, doves), snakes, lizards, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, chickens, pigs, and other sweet animals we should meet!
Your animal does not need to be a certified therapy pet but we do screen all potential program animals for suitability. To participate as a handler we ask that you complete a one-day Nature Connection training program, and we ask for a commitment of 2-4 hours a month.
