The Nature Connection

Elder with herbs

The Nature Connection delivers educational and therapeutic nature programs to individuals with limited access to the outdoors - to nature. Though the use of fresh plants, live animals, and natural materials, The Nature Connection delivers monthly programs with themes based on the seasons, cycles, and connection to nature to: at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, and elders, including those with dementia/Alzheimer's.

Volunteers join us for 2 hour a month (or more!) at our partner sites throughout Metro-west and the Greater Boston area, and put nature into the hands of people in our communities that cannot go outside for a walk to clear their mind, enjoy the autumn colors, or listen to the birds. Join us!

  • Volunteer your pets! If you currently own an animal with therapeutic potential and are interested in having your pet "volunteer" we would love to hear from you!
  • Photograph or write stories to help document our programs.
  • Help with general office tasks and events as your schedule allows.

Volunteer with The Nature Connection and help share nature’s capacity to heal, teach and create joy.

Mission Statement

The Nature Connection is a nonprofit organization that brings the curiosity, joy, and healing power of nature to those with limited access to the outdoors. Programs feature seasonal themes, fresh plants, live animals, and natural materials.

The Nature Connection enables children and elders, many confined to institutions, to have direct contact with the natural world. Transporting live animals, natural materials and the arts, we provide educational and therapeutic programs to at-risk youth, people with disabilities and elders in Concord and Greater Boston. Founded in 1983, the Nature Connection brings individuals together with nature's capacity to heal and to teach.
