Make a difference in someone’s life. LEAP, and the Richmond Public Library, is seeking a volunteer computer monitor to assist adult literacy and GED students as they navigate our online instructional resources.
A computer monitor is a vital resource for our students. Many times our students independently access our online instruction resources but find that resources themselves are not sufficient to teach the material. The computer monitor will be an instructor in the room. When the online instruction isn’t sufficient, then the computer monitor will jump-in and assist the student through the material. The online materials include GED preparation and literacy instruction and can generally be described as reading comprehension (e.g. finding the main idea of an article). In addition, some students need assistance with basic computing skills, including navigating websites and logging-in to resources.
This is a new and exciting opportunity and hopefully the person who accepts this role will form a lasting and positive relationship with our students. We are particularly looking for a volunteer on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
