Soccer Without Borders Oakland’s mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing newcomer refugee, asylee and immigrant youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success. SWB participants represent over 35 different countries, including Iraq, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Nepal, Bhutan, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
SWB Oakland runs after-school soccer programs for middle and high school newcomer youth. Our 16 different teams practice Tuesday-Friday, for 2 hours, at fields throughout the East Bay. Assistant Coaches are needed to serve as extra hands supporting the Head Coach, and being another positive example encouraging the players.
POSITION DETAILS
The Weekend Mentor's primary responsibilities are to work with coaches and players on weekends, providing transportation to away games for players as well as helping the Head Coach with managing game day tasks like time-keeping, equipment organizations, and keeping subs engaged.
